Hwieun Kim (violin) and Ben Solomonow (cello) will lead the class and are highly sought orchestral musicians who have performed alongside Pacific Symphony, LA Phil, San Diego Symphony, among others. The class will prepare violinists and cellists for orchestra auditions through the performance and study of the standard orchestral repertoire. Students will study and perform solo and tutti excerpts in order to examine the necessary techniques and skills needed for each composition. The class will discuss all aspects of the audition taking process and the attributes required to be a fine ensemble player. All of the required excerpts will be emailed a week prior to the first class. Please be prepared to perform every class. This class will end with a mock audition on April 28.
