Born in Florida to Lebanese-Japanese parents, Nadia Azzi began playing the piano at the age of five. She is a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist, bringing her versatile artistry to a wide range of musical partnerships.
Nadia is the recipient of top prizes in numerous national and international competitions. Most recently, she won the 2nd Prize and Special Jury Prize at the 2023 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway with her piano trio, Trio Tokava. Other notable awards include top prizes in the 2019-2020 Beverly Hills National Auditions, 2017, 2016, and 2015 National YoungArts Foundation, 2015 Ishikawa Music Academy, 2014 Nordmann Scholarship Competition—awarding a full-tuition merit scholarship to continue studies at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division—2013 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, 2013 Thousand Islands International Chopin Piano Competition, 2012 Crescendo International Music Competition, Walgreens National Concerto Competition, Tampa Bay Symphony Young Artist Competition, New Music National Young Artist Competition, Orfeo International Music Competition, and AADGT International Music Festival, among others.
She made her Carnegie Hall debut at age eleven and her concerto debut with the Boston Neo-politan Orchestra at age twelve. In the same year, she made her European debut at the Teatro Communale in Italy. In 2015, she appeared on Arabs Got Talent and became a recipient of MBC Group TV director Ali Jaber’s Golden Buzzer. She has received fellowships to the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, both as a piano fellow and collaborative piano fellow, and later returning as a guest artist, as well as the Sarasota Music Festival, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Yellow Barn YAP, and Junior Academy Eppan in Italy. Other engagements of note include performing solo and chamber music recitals at the Newport Classical Music Festival, Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, Core Memory Music, and Bravo Niagara Festival of the Arts. Media appearances have included NPR’s From the Top, WGN-TV Chicago, Radio Canada International, NHK-FM Japan, FBC Japan, Fukui TV, and a live solo recital on the “Impromptu” Series of WFMT Chicago. Nadia has performed at venues across the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan - most recently at La Maison Symphonique in Montreal, Aventura Arts and Cultural Center in Florida, Frimurerlogen in Norway, Harmony Hall Fukui in Japan, David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and Salle Bourgie and Salle-Claude Champagne in Montreal.
As a chamber musician and collaborative pianist, Nadia has worked with numerous instrumentalists, particularly cellists, demonstrating a deep sensitivity and understanding to ensemble playing. She has been a member of her piano trio, Trio Tokava, since 2022, and has also performed with the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble and Colburn Contemporary Ensemble. As a soloist, Nadia has performed with l’Orchestre de la Francophonie, New Philharmonic Orchestra, American Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Tampa Bay Symphony, Richey Orchestra, Juilliard Pre-College String Ensemble, Colburn Orchestra, and Beaufort Symphony Orchestra under distinguished conductors such as Jean-Philippe Tremblay, Nikolas Nägele, Maxim Eshkenazy, Sydney Hodkinson, Shih-Hung Young, Kirk Muspratt, and Fred Devyatkin.
As a pedagogue, Nadia is committed to the rigorous development of musicians across a broad range of levels, from beginners establishing a solid technical and musical foundation to advanced students engaged in high-level performance preparation. Under her guidance, students have earned top prizes at prestigious competitions, including the Junior Concerto Competition at the PianoTexas International Festival & Academy, a semifinalist placement at the Fou Ts’ong International Concerto Competition, and top prizes at the MTNA State Piano Competition (Massachusetts) and the Young Artist Competition at Westfield State University, among others.
Outside of music, Nadia is an avid foodie, enjoys creative mixology, and loves fashion. She is also a proud dog mom to Boba, her 4-pound teacup poodle.
Nadia graduated from the pre-college division of The Juilliard School studying under Yoheved Kaplinsky, and received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Colburn Conservatory of Music studying under Fabio Bidini.
