Tired of yelling at your kids to practice? Join our supervised practice sessions. For young musicians who find it difficult to make themselves practice in a timely and productive manner. Only the coolest club to join! (Details and sign up below)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Book an hour-long Zoom practice session below.

  2. Be ready at least 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled session with the piano open and/or your instrument unpacked and tuned. Your music must be ready to go and the student’s camera and audio must be on.

  3. A proctor will run the practice session, alternating unmuting the students at random in the virtual Zoom practice room to make sure each student is staying focused over the course of the hour. Generalized feedback may be delivered.

  4. The proctor will award up to 5 points to each student for every session. Points can be redeemed for exclusive prizes!

Supervised Practice

We understand that busy parents and the inconvenience of driving out of our school can hinder the desire or need to drop off your kids at our location for in-person practicing. This is the reason for offering practice sessions via “Zoom”. While we do not believe in online private lessons, we believe that offering this tool online is the answer to providing regular, weekly supervised practice sessions for students of all ages, levels, and abilites.

Quality Over Quantity

As the educational environment for young students becomes more competitive, time becomes one of the most valuable and, sometimes, rare commodities. We understand that our students often have many commitments outside of music, such as sports, tutoring, and homework. However, one cannot study music without dedicating a part of their daily routine to practice. As such, it is incredibly important that the little practice time students have is effective, focused, and productive. Our proctors will make sure of this!

We do not play music with our fingers, but with our mind.

Earn Points

To further incentivize your young musician to, not only join our practice sessions, but to do them well and find some fun in them, a point system will be established. At each session, a student can earn up to 5 points. There will be opportunities to earn bonus points (such as during no-school days, spring breaks, or under exceptional circumstances). Points will be given out by the proctor at the end of the session. Parents, students, and teachers will be able to view these points in order to best understand the quality of practice. Students can earn prizes with earned points.

To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time.

If you practice something slowly, you forget it slowly. If you practice something fast, you forget it fast.

Book a session.

Sessions are limited to 6 available spots maximum, to ensure the best quality practice monitoring possible. Please note that your session may be canceled if only one student signs up for that session.

 FAQ

  • Yes. Siblings can split a one-hour session into 30 minute increments. Siblings would need to be prepared for a smooth transition at the 30-minute mark (instrument and music ready). Try to avoid losing those precious minutes!

  • Make sure your camera and audio are both working in Zoom. The camera does not need to be directly in front of the student, but must be angled where the proctor has full vision of the student.

  • We are starting with one hour options per day, but will expand based on demand. Please email us your best availability so we know what hours to offer.

  • Please note that you will be responsible for 100% of your appointment fee if you miss an appointment or cancel without 24 hours notice. If the student is sick and cannot show up to the session, please email us at info@friedmusic.com.
